The effectiveness of our Haircare line comes from science and is measured by results.

How do we evaluate effectiveness?

To understand if a product is effective, we start from the result we want to verify and choose the most suitable test. Density, elasticity, sebum, curl, and brightness are evaluated using specific methods. This way, effectiveness is not just a promise, but is supported by data obtained under defined conditions.

Why do we use different tests?

Because every result requires a different method of evaluation. Hair density is measured with TrichoScan®, elasticity with a dynamometer, sebum with the Sebumeter®, while frizz and fiber surface need other techniques. This is how we can precisely assess efficacy, parameter by parameter.

Self-assessments

User experience is also part of the results. Self-assessment tests capture what people observe while using the product, such as softer hair, easier to comb, or a longer-lasting feeling of cleanliness. This data is paired with instrumental tests to explain effectiveness from another perspective.

The two evaluations answer different questions and complement each other. One measures specific parameters, the other collects experience during use.

Technology

TrichoScan®

TrichoScan® photographs and analyzes the scalp to count hair, measure its density, and distinguish those in the anagen phase (the active growth phase) from those in the telogen phase, the resting phase of the hair cycle.

Discover Hair Density

+20,4

hair/cm²

in the anagen phase after 3 months*

-13,2

hairs/cm²

in the telogen phase after 3 months*

How does it work?

The scalp is photographed and analyzed before and after the treatment. TrichoScan® counts the hair present in the analyzed area and evaluates its distribution across the different phases of the cycle. This way, we can compare measurable data over time.

**Results obtained through instrumental measurement with TrichoScan® on a sample of 21 subjects who used the product for 84 consecutive days, within a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study.

To measure effectiveness, each result requires a specific method.

Crespo and humidity

To evaluate frizz control, treated and untreated hair strands are exposed to controlled high humidity conditions and compared over time. With Frizz Control, the test showed a 100% reduction in frizz for up to 2 hours and a 66.7% reduction from 4 to 12 hours compared to the untreated control.*

*Ex vivo test performed on natural hair strands, treated with the combined use of Frizz Control Shampoo and Frizz Control Conditioner. The anti-frizz effect was evaluated up to 12 hours after treatment, under controlled conditions of high humidity and temperature, compared to untreated control strands.

Fiber elasticity

Elasticity tells us how a damaged fiber responds mechanically. In the Hair Restructuring test, this is measured using a dynamometer by subjecting the fiber to controlled stress. The observed increase was 11.9% after the first treatment and 16.6% after 12 treatments.*

Sebum on the skin

The Sebumeter® measures the amount of sebum present on the surface of the scalp. In the Oily Scalp test, measurements were taken immediately after the first application, then at 24, 48, and 72 hours without additional washes, to track the trend of sebum on the skin surface over time.*

*Instrumental evaluation of scalp sebum content using Sebumeter®, conducted on 20 subjects with oily scalp, after 28 days of using Oily Scalp Purifying Shampoo as per usage instructions.

Technology

SEM Analysis

Scanning electron microscopy, SEM, allows high-resolution observation of the hair surface. In the Hair Restructuring test, we analyzed damaged hair strands before treatment and after 1 and 12 treatments, to compare the fiber morphology over time.

Discover the routine

+11,9%

+16,6%

100%

How does it work?

Hair strands are analyzed at various points throughout the test. SEM allows comparing the surface morphology of the fiber, while the dynamometer measures its elasticity. Two different methods to assess two distinct characteristics of damaged hair.

Test note

*Ex vivo evaluation performed on hair strands damaged via bleaching, treated with the combined use of Restructuring Shampoo and Restructuring Conditioner. The elasticity of the hair fiber was evaluated after 1 and 12 treatments; the hair surface morphology was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

**Self-assessment test performed on 20 volunteers with damaged hair, after 28 days of combined use of Restructuring Shampoo and Restructuring Conditioner, following the usage guidelines.

Efficacy supported by clinical study

  1. T0

    Before starting

At the start of the study, we analyzed the scalp with TrichoScan®, a tool that allows measuring how many hairs are present and how many are in the growth or resting phase.

  2. T2

    After 2 months

The first measurements with TrichoScan® already showed more hairs in the growth phase, fewer hairs in the resting phase, and an increase in density. The study then continued until the final evaluation.

  3. T3

    After 3 months

TrichoScan® detected +20,4 more hairs in the growth phase (anagen) per cm² and -13,2 fewer hairs about to fall out (telogen) per cm². In other words, more hairs in the growth phase and fewer hairs about to fall out.
